Grocer and Grain is a local grocery store and deli on the corner of Surrey street down the road from Brighton Station; we are in the perfect location for commuters to come and grab their morning coffee and breakfast on the way to work. We started our journey in 2006 as a DVD rental store, but as time went on we felt the need for a change and started selling fresh produce and goods, alongside our DVD’s. Later on we took the plunge and transformed the entire store into the shop we are today.
At Grocer and Grain, we pride ourselves on being a big part of our local community. Our regular customers have helped to make us who we are today and have always supported the business in many different ways. We have become close friends with many regulars and love seeing new faces in the store from day to day. Our friendly staff are always happy to help with customer queries or any questions you may have. We are open to listening to customer feedback, for example, how you liked the food, or even requests for products you would like to see stocked on our shelves! We love hearing our customers opinions and are always trying to make our store the best it can be, especially since we are unique to the neighborhood.
At Grocer and Grain we have an endless variety of products. Our wide range of fresh produce comes from good, local suppliers, many of which are free range or organic.
We are always trying to be as ethical as possible, such as, becoming more environmentally-friendly like our refill stations, where you can top up your bottles of washing up liquid, fabric conditioner, and cooking oils, etc… At the back of our store, we offer a variety of spices, herbs, nuts, seeds and dried fruit, which is perfect for filling up your spice jars or collecting as much of them as you need. We cater for several dietary requirements as many of our products are vegetarian or vegan, for example our selection of sandwiches, salads, hot foods and sweet treats. We sell gluten free products and alternative milk which is perfect if you have any allergens. We also provide locally farmed meat, fish, dairy and eggs so we can satisfy everyone's taste.
"What a gem of a place. Such a delight shopping in this little but well stocked grocery. The bread is fab and well priced as too are the free range eggs. Feels like a really trustworthy place with friendly staff who love working there. I have swerved the lush looking cakes, but it won't be long till I succumb. A nice seating area outside to muse with a cuppa. Open early and late enough for commuters to pop in before or after work. I bought a cute pot plant lard night and other bits. I only popped in for milk!"
"One of Brighton's little gems...well worth popping in on your way to or from the station."
"So the day I decide to change the way I eat and quit processed, sugary fake food & go natural, I stumble into this little haven.. absolutely delighted!! Can't wait to work my way through the store."
